Novel Design Framework for Dual-Band Frequency Selective Surfaces Using Multi-Variant Differential Evolution

Frequency Selective Surfaces (FSSs) have become increasingly popular during the last years due to their combined characteristics, which meet, in general, requirements of next-generation wireless communication networks. In this work, a cross-platform design framework for FSS structures is presented and evaluated by utilizing recently introduced evolutionary optimization algorithm, namely, Multi-Variant Differential Evolution (MVDE). To best authors knowledge, first time that MVDE algorithm applied problem Electromagnetics. The proposed described detail utilized assessed terms its performance applying several benchmark functions. context, comparatively against other algorithms. Moreover, it two different representative examples based on three use cases unit cell geometry. Optimization results indicate efficacy quantifying designed system metrics. optimized exhibit dual-band operation quite acceptable ISM frequency bands 2.45 GHz 5.8 GHz.
